Pretentious music nut, reporting for duty.
Okay. Here’s the deal. I knew who he was and what he did for a living for a while now, but I guess that I never really listened before. I don’t know what stopped me from doing so. I guess my predisposition to get intoxicated with other kinds of music played a part in it. So, then I ask myself again – Why not sooner? It was supposed to be this way for some reason. Maybe because my last day of the year is a little more special than those that were, before.
So anyway. I really got into his music a couple of weeks ago (roughly), because I was watching a u-stream chat with his fans. When I got there, he was already rocking out on his guitar, which I found cool, because none of the other artists I watched via ustream actually sang any songs… well, maybe the ustream event Josh Groban held, in honor of his newest album, Illuminations.
So okay, coming back to Jake. He’s a pretty cool dude, with the voice of an angel. Even on the low quality chat, he sounded really, really good. I was not convinced, so I asked Jake to have an improv moment, to sing my grocery list. Aside that it was hilarious (I’m going to stop right here, and ask that if ANYONE has a recording of that moment, to e-mail it to me, or post it in a comment here, or tweet it to me, or something because i want to watch it again, over and over. I laughed so hard I cried.) I was surprised. Pleasantly, which happens oh so rarely, at this magnitude. Then, my friendly YouTube search engine found his channel. Lot of great originals and covers on there.
I will try to avoid giving any recommendations, because my favorites change from one minute to another. Everyone who ever read my blog, twitter/Facebook feed knows that I can totally be in love with a Menowar song now, and 2 minutes later be swooning over a Jencarlos Canela song.
So anywhoo. Jake Coco has good vocals ( — understatement— don’t mind if I appear less enthusiastic about this eargasmic find than I really am. It is very hard for me to admit I love something to this degree. Well, except maybe myself, because I am a narcissistic bitch) My very good friend, YouTube (he’s like God, you know? All the cool, talented people love to hang with him… and less cooler people… kinda like in High School) showed me a little vid of Jake. This one.
Aside that I am totally intrigued by the tattoo on his left arm, and that he followed me on Twitter yesterday (I know, right?
)
(and freakishly in love with his piano man hands hehe), this is the only version of this song ( WHICH I LOVE, btw) that made me cry. Ever.
And then, my very good friend YouTube, went on, and on, and on, about how great a musician Jake really is. So he showed me this cute little video. With Alex G, which is another awesometastic buddy he has xD
I am not a fan of this song… But I got to admit, it sounds good.
I’m going to stop rambling about Jake now. I’ll leave you discover more of him on your own. You will be pleasantly surprised, as was I.
In the end, I only want to point out what Jake says on his official Facebook page,
because my heart echoes his.
“I want to be the conductor of your emotions. I want everyone to smile with me, to laugh with me, to cry with me, to love with me, even to die with me. I want to change the world, and I am naïve enough to believe that it is possible. Music could write the doctrine of world peace and if everyone stopped all of their nonsense and just sang a song, held hands, and loved, then maybe we could stop fighting over invisible boundary lines and green colored paper. Love is all around, and fighting is just a distraction. I will only be on this planet in this body for a short amount time, and I don’t want to waste a single second of it doing anything other than living, laughing, singing and loving.” – Jake Coco

On a side note, this will be my last day as a redhead. I am dyeing my hair back to black with blue reflexes. There’s something about it that makes it look way cooler with the pentacle I got from that goth store a week ago. (wink)
There will be more giveaways hosted on my website, soon. I promise you that.I am new at this whole thing, and I am trying to find alternatives, so I can be more organized next time. Until then,
Cheers, and a happy New Year!
