Boyce Avenue’s Christmas gift to their fans

27 Dec

Okay, so. They have a new Official Video.

This is the stuff Awesome is made of. The video is great, and the song is the very first song Alejandro [1] ever wrote.

Ever since it came out, barely hours ago, I have tried to find reviews of the song. The truth? The only relevant find Google search returned was from my good friend Melenie’s blog (GetBoyced), and that’s just a sentence from a concert review earlier this year!

My first reaction upon seeing this video was “ALRIGHT EVERYBODY SHUT THE FUCK UP, I’M HAVING AN ORGASM”

~~~sorry, guys. It’s true.
The lyrics are perfect, I love the melody, I love the video.
Now, this song keeps 5150-ing me (California code for a legal involuntary 72 hour psychiatric hold. In other words, police code for crazy one on the loose) ever since it first came out. I am not a person of many words, in most cases.
When it comes to music, I do not have the technical knowledge to try to review  everything in words. I can’t even read music, and I think it would be boring for those -like myself- that know jack squat about technique etc. But I can tell you this: “Find Me” [2] is one heck of a song!
If you haven’t listened to this song yet, I suggest you do. If you haven’t seen the official video yet, I suggest you do that too.
The song was released as a Christmas present of sorts for all their fans, the last upload of the year.  I spend every Sunday afternoon/evening chatting with several hardcore fans about every detail of the newest video, but this time they have really done me in. I somehow managed to miss all the chatter, because I was too busy playing the video over and over again. I have repeat-button-finger-cramps.
I’ve been contemplating how much I want to share about this, and my thoughts. Seriously, my thoughts are too many, and are all happening in a too short time span. Everything is jumbled around, and dancing, and singing and not coherent, lately. I love how Alejandro plays the acoustic guitar in this video (And YAY for Jason [3] being in the vid! He needs to be in more of the vids.)
The colors, the lighting, it’s all different from what their fans are used to, lately. There’s more light, the colors seem to dance, to be more alive. I love this song with all my heart, and the lyrics are so great… I am just drawn to all the beauty and love there’s going on, lately.
My favorite part of the new, official video is – most probably, this bit, where you can see him play the guitar…
but not only. I love the video, as a whole. However, my favorite part of the song is the last part after the last chorus is sung.
“With you in time
There’s nothing else
My life stands still
You are the will that makes me strong
Make me strong
If ever alone in this world I know I’ll always…
Find me, here in your arms
Now I’m wondering where you’ve always been
Blindly, I came to you
Knowing you’d breathe new life from within
You sleep, here in my arms
Where the world just shuts down for a while
Blindly, you came to me
Finding peace and belief in this smile
Find some peace and belief in this smile
Can’t get enough of you…”
To me, that bit right there gave me a reason to smile when I felt like no one was there. It made me remember how it feels like to be held in someone’s arms, and how that can make you feel like time stops, and everything else disappears, and most of all, how empowering the feeling of love is. Any kind of love. I have met so many amazing people over the years, with whom I am good friends with now, or will be soon. The feeling of being loved, even as a sister by someone who was merely a stranger not so long ago can be very compelling. The feeling of love I have for them in return, can make one feel invincible. It is truly amazing, and I hope everyone feels that warmth and joy in their hearts, at least once in their lifetime.
I have to thank Alejandro, Daniel, and Fabian for that, because the Manzano brothers are responsible for many beautiful friendships, and for many amazing memories. The BAmily is strong!
I am going to shut up now, but I leave you with 2 things – The story behind the song, and Alejandro’s words after the video was launched.
 This video/song means so much to me because this is the very first song I ever wrote. Thanks so much for supporting us for so many years and for hopefully sticking around for many more years to come! :) Love you all! ~ Alejandro Manzano
~~ And the “all” love you right back!
Story behind the song, from the "All You're Meant To Be" album booklet. Special thanks to Ana Marie for the photo :)
